How does buying a gun online work in Ohio?
You pay for the firearm here and name a licensed FFL dealer in Ohio at checkout. We ship the gun to that dealer. You collect it there after completing ATF Form 4473 and passing the background check.
Who runs the background check?
Your dealer, by contacting the FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). Ohio does not operate its own system for firearm sales. Most checks answer within minutes.
Is there a waiting period or a permit to buy in Ohio?
No to both. Ohio has no purchase permit, no registration and no waiting period. If the check clears you take the firearm home on the same visit. A delayed check means the dealer holds it until the delay is resolved.
What do I need to bring to the dealer?
Valid government photo ID with your current address, the dealer transfer fee and your order number. If your ID shows an old address, ask the dealer which supporting government document they accept.
What does the FFL dealer charge?
Each dealer sets their own fee, commonly $20 to $50 in Ohio. Call before ordering to confirm the fee and that they accept shipped transfers.
Do I need a concealed handgun license to buy a handgun?
No. The license is about carrying, not buying, and since June 13, 2022 qualifying adults can carry concealed without one. See our Ohio concealed carry guide.
Is this rifle legal for Ohio deer season?
Only rifles chambered for a straight-walled cartridge from .357 to .50 caliber are legal for deer, along with slug shotguns, muzzleloaders and qualifying handguns. The deer rifle guide lists the common chamberings. If you are unsure about a specific listing, message us before you order.
Can you ship a gun to my house?
No. Federal law requires firearms to go to a licensed dealer. Ammunition, magazines and accessories ship to your Ohio address.
How old do I have to be?
21 or older for handguns and handgun ammunition, 18 or older for rifles, shotguns and their ammunition (federal law and ORC 2923.21).
How much is shipping and how long does it take?
A flat $29.99 per order, free over $999. Most orders ship within 1–3 business days of payment and, for firearms, once we have the dealer license. Items from partner warehouses can take 1–3 weeks; if we cannot ship within 30 days you get a full refund.
What payment do you accept?

Are prices and availability accurate?
They are checked again when you place the order. If anything changed, you see it before you pay.
Do you sell suppressors or short-barreled rifles?
No. NFA items need ATF approval paperwork that we do not handle, so they are not listed.
Can I return a gun?
Before it is transferred to you, yes: contact us and tell your dealer not to complete the transfer. Once transferred, a firearm cannot be returned for refund, though manufacturer warranties apply. See the returns policy.
